Teach your kids to count with these cute and colourful cupcakes! I’m always looking for ways to improve upon the toys I find, and below I’ll show you how to make your very own counting cupcakes using items that can be found in any dollar store.

The cupcake trays come in all sorts of fun colours, like the pink tray above or the purple packaged version shown below. I purchased these at Dollarama, but numbers can be applied to any kids toy for similar use.

The numbers can be bought at any stationery store—adhesive numbers are the easiest to use. Once they’ve been applied, a couple of strokes of Podgy (craft glaze typically used for preserving puzzles) or even clear nail polish will protect the numbers and give the cupcake bottoms a nice, shiny glaze. As shown in the photo, the corresponding numbers can be applied to the bottom of the tray so kids can practice putting the cupcakes in the correct spot.
And that’s it! A unique toy that is not only fun to play with, but educational as well. These can be used in general play, as well as in any child’s play kitchen. Feel free to try this at home; I’d love to hear about your results in the comment section.
Yours in song,
